The 2015 Grammy Stand Against Violence

We’ve all seen Hollywood’s moving commercials strongly opposing domestic violence (really any form of victimization) & the website http://www.NoMore.org

Last night’s Grammy Award’s Show was filled, as always, with wit, great music, dancing, beautiful clothes worn by beautiful people… And a turn towards public responsibility via a powerful testimony by Brooke Axtell (with the help of POTUS’ “It’s on Us” campaign & Katy Perry singing, “By the Grace of God”). Here’s a snippet… “Authentic love does not devalue another human being,” she said. “Authentic love does not silence, shame or abuse…”

The night took a serious turn toward the Spiritual at that point with a lovely speech by Gwyneth Paltrow, joined by LL Cool J, “We live in complicated times…” followed by an angelic BeyoncĂ© performing “Precious Lord, Take My Hand” http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/watch-beyonce-triumph-without-moving-at-grammys-20150209

While many critics have pointed out the lack of actual awards handed out at the ceremony (and they are correct – many of them were awarded in a ceremony held before). This lover of music delighted in the performances, tributes, and the strong anti-victimization time given to the show.

(The irony surrounding the commercial for “Fifty Shades of Grey” that trended on Twitter with #fiftyshadesisabuse was lost on no one that paid attention.)

If you missed the portion of the evening devoted to the condemnation and abolition of sexual violence, want to see it again, or want more information, read more at http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/grammy-awards-2015-brooke-axtell-domestic-abuse-activist/story?id=28822629

Congratulations to all on (arguably) the most important of nights for musical performing artists!
