Silence

I know I’m not alone here; life has been quite intrusive causing me to be very quiet!

I’m undergoing a metamorphosis, which we all know (even for the butterfly) takes a great deal of struggle and strength – but it always creates a more beautiful being than before. (I personally think caterpillars are beautiful, but must admit that when its “true self” emerges, it is breathtaking!)

So, stay tuned as I unfurl my wings… and FLY!Butterfly-cats-parrots-and-butterflies-22790729-1024-768

Levity – Misquote Memes

We all know that people (living or not) are often misquoted or that quotes are often wildly misinterpretationallycredited (I think I just made that word up – Webster’s take notice)!

My fellow blogger Erin: http://ejbwritingstudio.com/2015/02/12/truth-is-its-own-reward-the-stephen-king-attribution-error/ pointed that out to me today and got my – silly, really want to procrastinate – side going! Then Keith @kilbourneknight (awesome writer extrodinarre & fellow procrastinator – go say hi) fueled my feathebrained fire, and off I go!

So, for kicks & giggles….

The 2015 Grammy Stand Against Violence

We’ve all seen Hollywood’s moving commercials strongly opposing domestic violence (really any form of victimization) & the website http://www.NoMore.org

Last night’s Grammy Award’s Show was filled, as always, with wit, great music, dancing, beautiful clothes worn by beautiful people… And a turn towards public responsibility via a powerful testimony by Brooke Axtell (with the help of POTUS’ “It’s on Us” campaign & Katy Perry singing, “By the Grace of God”). Here’s a snippet… “Authentic love does not devalue another human being,” she said. “Authentic love does not silence, shame or abuse…”

The night took a serious turn toward the Spiritual at that point with a lovely speech by Gwyneth Paltrow, joined by LL Cool J, “We live in complicated times…” followed by an angelic Beyoncé performing “Precious Lord, Take My Hand” http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/watch-beyonce-triumph-without-moving-at-grammys-20150209

While many critics have pointed out the lack of actual awards handed out at the ceremony (and they are correct – many of them were awarded in a ceremony held before). This lover of music delighted in the performances, tributes, and the strong anti-victimization time given to the show.

(The irony surrounding the commercial for “Fifty Shades of Grey” that trended on Twitter with #fiftyshadesisabuse was lost on no one that paid attention.)

If you missed the portion of the evening devoted to the condemnation and abolition of sexual violence, want to see it again, or want more information, read more at http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/grammy-awards-2015-brooke-axtell-domestic-abuse-activist/story?id=28822629

Congratulations to all on (arguably) the most important of nights for musical performing artists!

Midnight & If Only by Ships Have Sailed

Ships Have Sailed are a band from my native Los Angeles, CA Their EPs Someday & Moodswings can be found on iTunes! Find them on Reverb Nation, on Twitter @ShipsHaveSailed & at http://www.shipshavesailed.com Here’s Midnight: http://youtu.be/9qSSA_IAFf0

Now that Moodswings is available, I HAVE to share If Only with you: http://youtu.be/S_QTZyFv8D0

What Will does with his voice in this song is NOT easy! To pull that emotional “grind” out that you’ll hear & to continue singing without having a cough-attack is super hard!! (I guess it’s a “Musician thing” but I wanted to point it out!!) 👏👏👏

Everything by Debbie O

http://debbieomusic.com/synesthesiachromesthesia-the-colors-of-my-life/

She was
Just a little girl of three
How
Could she know that she would see
The
World through different eyes
Than you and me

She
Saw the life around her
Through
Eyes that saw so
So much good
But the
Good turn to bad
Would come
Tearing down her dreams

How could she know…
How could anybody know…

(Chorus)
That
The softest hearts will love
Much deeper
The kindest souls will mourn
Forever
And when it comes to feeling everything
She would be all alone in this world
Feeling everything

She could
Never be prepared to find
That in the
Corners of her precious mind
Grew
Love that knew no boundaries
No
Love that only she could see

A
Happy carefree teenage girl
Would
Fall in love and have her world shattered
‘Cause when that love was lost
She’d find that
All things come with a cost

How could she know…
How could anybody know…

(Chorus)
That
The softest hearts will love
Much deeper
The kindest souls will mourn
Forever
And when it comes to feeling everything
She would be all alone in this world
Feeling everything

Far too young she’d marry him
And
Everything would begin to swim
Against the
Currents of her heart you know
That she
Soars on heights and depths below

Moving on she still could see
Such
Beauty far beyond our reach
And
All alone she’d be, she’d find
That the
Forest wild and a long lost child
Buried deep inside her still
Was feeling everything

(Bridge)
No one else
Feels her joy or feels her pain
It’s a mystery to her and to me
That she’s
Feeling everything
Nothing really worked out right
She’s
Picking up the broken pieces
Of her life

Oh how could she know…
How could anybody ever really know…

(Chorus)
That
The softest hearts will love
Much deeper
The kindest souls will mourn
Forever
And when it comes to feeling everything
She would be all alone in this world
Feeling everything

“Try” A beautiful song about being who you are!!

http://youtu.be/GXoZLPSw8U8

Try by Colbie Caillat

Put your make up on
Get your nails done
Curl your hair
Run the extra mile
Keep it simple
So they like you, do they like you
Get your sexy on
Don’t be shy girl
Take it off
This is what you want to belong
So they like you, do you like you
You don’t have to try so hard
You don’t have to give it all away
You just have to get up, get up, get up
You don’t have change a single thing
You don’t have to try, try, try, try
You don’t have to try, try, try, try
You don’t have to try, try, try, try
You don’t have to try
You don’t have to try

Get your shopping on at the mall
Max your credit card
You don’t have to choose
Buy it all
So they like you
Do they like you
Wait a sec
You watch should you care what they think of you
When you’re all alone
By yourself, do you like you
Do you like you
You don’t have to try so hard
You don’t have to give it all away
You just have to get up, get up, get up
You don’t have change a single thing
You don’t have to try, try, try, try
You don’t have to try, try, try, try
You don’t have to try, try, try, try
You don’t have to try
You don’t have to try

You don’t have to try so hard
You don’t have to give it all away
You just have to get up, get up, get up
You don’t have change a single thing
You don’t have to try, try, try, try
You don’t have to try, try, try, try
You don’t have to try, try, try, try
You don’t have to try
Take your make up off
Let your hair down
Take a breath
Look into the mirror at yourself
Don’t you like you
Cause I like you
